This texture comes from being washed with stones of different densities, which creates a softening of the fabric, and a stonewashed style. This stonewashing effect is sometimes used with denim as well. 

Care: Machine wash cold and hang to dry for best results. It is possible to machine dry this towel, but we recommend air drying for longevity and to minimize any shrinkage.
